Those of you who have been reading here for awhile will know the significance of this photo...yes, folks...Lily is sleeping in her big girl bed! We are on day 4 and she is really doing well. We have had problems in the "sleep" area with Lily from day one, obviously, which is why I am making a big deal over a 3 year old sleeping without her mommy and daddy. It IS a big deal for this family. It is still a work in progress...she still cries out for me in the middle of the night. Actually, she seems to be getting gradually LESS excited about being in her own bed (in typical Lily style)...But, we're getting there. Wednesday night (around 1am) she called out for me and asked me to lay down for 2 minutes ("way down to two minutes"), so I did but kinda knocked into her as I got in, cuz I don't fit all that well. Lily (giggling) said "We bump heads momma"... and I answered "yep, Lil, we sure did"... still giggling, "I so silly, momma"... "Yep, you are Lil." After a few minutes of snuggling I told her I was going back to my own bed and she said "Otay, I sweep a wot of minutes by myself"...I replied "that's right honey, I'll see you when the sun comes up. Love you big girl!" As I walked away she quietly said "yuv you too momma"...
That's my daughter. Still struggling between her desire to grow up and be a big girl, and her desire to stay momma's little baby. Hmmm...I think I have the same struggle going on. I want her to be independent and strong, but I also know she's only young once and I savor all her "baby" moments. So, for now, I'm sooo proud of how far my sweet girl has come already in her life. I know it is important for her to sleep by herself in her "princess bed", but I will allow her to cry out for me as long as she needs to and I will come "way down to two minutes"...

What a sweetie! Yeah on the big girl bed!
Keep smilin!
Great pictures - what a big girl. Her bed looks so sweet and comfy. It's hard on us parents when they start to become independent. Have a great weekend.
Yeah Lily!!! :)
Don't ever let her back in your bed. I did and it was a terrible mistake. I now dread bedtime. Cute pic though.

So precious. What a cute picture. I love the way you described you and Lily talking back and forth. It really touched me. Kids are what life is all about!
You made me cry AGAIN, Nikki!! Our sweeties are growing so fast...
Whenever I tell Anna she's such a big girl, she tells me, "I'm Momma's baby. Yep, I'm Momma's big baby!!" I love her so much! :)
What a big girl, Lily!
Yes it's tough to see them become independent! We want the best for them and that they have enough confidence to do great stuffs in life, but for us I think they'll always be our babies.
Ya, good for you big girl!!
Good for you Mom. *wink*
I just love Lily's beeding, gorgeous.
good going Lily. :O)
I'm choked up reading that one, Nik. Boy, she has certainly come a long way!!! I'm so proud of your BIG girl...

That's great. What a sweet doll Lily is and what a big girl to sleep in her own bed. My Ava is 19 months and has yet to sleep in her own bed so you've given me hope that one day, she too will sleep in her own big girl bed. :)
How funny.....I was just going to email you and ask you about this issue! lol Glad to hear you guys are making progress over there! ;)
HOORAY! That must feel GREAT!!!!! Good girl, Lily! Now, stick with it.....:-)
Good job Lily. What a big girl. Maybe she could give Aiden a few words of wisdom. He still finds his way to our bedroom in the middle of the night. Have an awesome weekend. :)
This made me cry. I know what you mean about the mixed emotions of them growing up- it's so hard. I'm glad she's doing better in her big girl bed! And what an adorable bed it is. :)
Yeah - 4 nights - that's awesome!!
Keep it up Lily!!
Yeah!!! That's awesome!
way to go Lil!! we are so proud of you...I'll be mailing a way to go present to her this week!! so be on the lookout!!
Love the picture. What a sweet little girl. You are doing a great job Mom.
That struggle continues for years. My 12 year old every once in a while will still cuddle up with me like he did when he was little.
I am proud of Lily staying in her bed. Eli is in our bed every night and I end up sleeping on the couch.
Nikki,
That is wonderful news. Actually, we are going through the same thing and our Lily is 5! It has been about 2 weeks for us now and it has been "heavenly" to get some rest (of course we still have our moments of going in during the night).
I love your conversations (Lily is precious) and it sounds like she is doing so well with the change. A toast to you and best wishes for uninterrupted sleep and more room to stretch:)

Big bed, big girl, what's next?
