Hot Volcanos and a Nice Fairy

Driving the other day Lily says from her carseat "Mommy, I'm wooking and wooking and I can't find any volcanos anywhere!" I told her that there are no volcanos in Michigan, but there are some in Washington State. She said "Oh no, that's not good. The melted rock is hot to the touch!" (She has been watching The Discovery Channel with Jay.) This made me laugh, but didn't really surprise me. She is always sponging up information and then spitting it back out at us when we least expect it. But lately she has been doing the "pretend thing". I read awhile ago that age 3 is when kiddos have imaginary friends and get very into pretend play. Well, up until quite recently I hadn't noticed much of that going on with Lil. I mean, Spot is her best friend - she treats stuffed animals and other inanimate objects (like balloons) as if they were people. But, the other night while we were out to dinner with my parents she climbed under the table...when I asked her to get back up on her seat she said "I can't, I'm scared of the fairy. She is gonna turn me into somefing" As she is saying this she is looking into the air at said "fairy". I convinced her that the fairy was nice, and wouldn't turn her into anything. This seemed to ease her mind and she decided that yes, the fairy WAS nice. So nice that she came home with us. She didn't drive in the car with us but flew ABOVE our car. We gave her a name. Lucy. (Lily wanted to name her Lily, but I told her that might get confusing.) Lucy even slept in Lily's bed with her that night. The next morning I went up to Lily's room, sat down next to her to say good morning and I was accused of sitting on Lucy! Oops. Silly me. Apparently I didn't smoosh her completely cuz she was fine all day and even went to dance class with us last night. Lily was introducing her to the other moms in the lobby...have I mentioned lately how much I LOVE age three??? So much fun.

Spicy Girl had an imaginary friend for a couple of years. Her name was America. She also had a "big brother", and that's what we had to call him. So, America and Big Brother went everywhere with us. They also had birthdays every other day. We don't see much of them any more though now that S.G. is 5.

Have you guys ever watched The Magic Schoolbus? S.G. just loves it. We dvr every episode and watch them over and over. They are all about "sciency" stuff.

I also love the age 3!!

We don't have imaginary friends yet, but I am sure they will be coming as Ella has quite the imagination.

She treats her stuffed animals like they are living also. I just wrote a post about one of her favorite "living" stuffed animals!

Thanks so much for sharing the story about your sister! Wasn't that so kind of the lady and I just LOVE hearing things like this. Thanks!
Oh, and the world needs kind people like that lady much more than Wal-mart needs another
sale. : )

Have a great night!!

I loved the age of 3. Heck, who am I kidding, there are all great but each have their own special passages. J had an imaginary friend at 3. Love that she watches Discovery - that's J's favorite and he's now added History Chanel.
We are doing okay here - friends leave tonight. Have a good weekend.

I love 3, they are so much fun and a laugh a minute!!
We don't have any imaginary friends here, but all our stuffed animals are real. They all have names, different voices and they(all 10 of them)go everywhere we do, they sleep in the girls bed in their own special spots and my goodness if their out of order, look out LOL.
I love their imagination.
Oh yes Mommy, watch out tonight you don't sit on any fairies, LOL. ;)

Oh my goodness that is too cute! Three really is a magic age. Emily has had numerous imaginary friends, they are all pretty cool and yes, I have sat on a few of them:)

Em's imaginary play came long before she talked spontaneously - her imagination is wild and now in kindergarten, it makes for some pretty amazing journal entries at school.

Enjoy every moment of the fairies and friends she creates in her mind and heart.

Magic School Bus comes on Discovery Kids. It comes on around 7 or 7:30am here. I just have my dvr set to record them every time they come on. S.G.'s seen them all, but still loves to watch them over and over.

I totally understand the invisible friend or scary thing. I had both as a child and Glenys has the mother-step and uggy man after her.

Cute stories/pictures.

I just love the way you write her words with such discription. What sweet memories you will have of her little girl voice. She has an amazing imagination. Her stories may be eventually published.

What a great imagination and very smart of you to think of how to handle the fairy thing.

I agree age three is wonderful. That is one of my favorite ages with Aiden. It only gets better. :)

We send our hello to everyone, including Miss Lucy. We so enjoy Lily's pictures and funny stories! Anna and Lily would have lots of fun doing puzzles together and seem to be at similar stages! Terrific Three's! Makes me sad to think four is so close at hand. Each year has much to look forward to! Let Miss Lily know that Anna's state of GA does not have any volcanoes either! Whew! One less thing to worry about! Love and Hugs!
