My house is alive...

With the sound of music! And, I am lovin' it. I borrowed "The Sound of Music" from my sister a couple weeks ago, because I wanted to introduce Lily to one of my all time favorites. I was REALLY hoping she would love it, so I would put it on in her playroom as background noise. At first, she showed very little interest, until...she saw the puppet show. Oh my gosh, she fell instantly in love with the puppets, and has learned how to rewind to just the right spot to watch the thing over and over and over and over and...Ok. You get the drift. So, this brought me great joy and I have spent much time watching her dance with the puppets and do her very best imitation of their "yodeling". But, she has now realized that there is more than just one part in this movie that she loves. She will now watch a lot of the scenes and is beginning to SING along with them. Now, this makes my heart overflow with joy and thanksgiving! As many of you know, singing is my truest passion. Now, Lily has shown no desire to sing. Nor has she shown any interest in listening to her momma sing. She actually used to get UPSET when I would sing to her, which caused me a lot of heartache and pain. (Not to mention, a bruised ego). I was like, hey kid! Some people really like the way I sing. I have been asked to sing in some weddings. I was on the vocal worship team at church. Don't ya wanna hear just a few tunes from your mom? To which she would quickly reply "No sing!"
Alrighty then! But, those days are gone. My daughter has discovered that singing is GOOD. She is finding her own little voice, and isn't cringing at the sound of mine!
Oh, happy days! Thank you Julie Andrews and "The Sound of Music". Thank you!
(I am assuming that you all have seen "The Sound of Music" and if you have NOT -- shame on you! Go out and rent it immediately!)

Do you have the musical CD? I'll ask Andrew if he could copy it and send it your way for Lilly. Olivia LOVES to sing to it too!

Glad to hear Lilly's heart is full of music! What a beautiful time for you both!

Our daughter loves the Sound of Music! It was her absolute favorite until last weekend when we introduced her to Mary Poppins. Now she's dancing around the house singing "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious". I bet Lily would love it.

You both sound great on there! I'm glad that she is singing. All little girls should sing their hearts out.

Her singing voice is awesome (as is yours)! I'm so glad she is showing some interest in one of your dear passions. Singing is so good for the soul. It just makes you feel good!

I think I need a little refresher on the Sound of Music. I've seen it dozens of times, but not for a while. Last time I saw it on TV, they actually even cut some of the songs!!!

Now that's a whole lot of cute!

My kids hate it when I sing...I can't imagine why.

Ok, first of all, you and I could really be good friends. I can quote The Sound of Music word for word. I introduced parts of it to Spicy Girl a few weeks ago. She also loved the puppet show. It is my most favorite movie in the whole wide world!!

Also, my husband is the singer in the house. He has been on the worship team, sung in many weddings...the list goes on. S.G. tells him to stop singing. She does love to sing, but she's used to me singing (not much talent). So funny!!

Nikki, Can Lily Lin be any sweeter??? She is so adorable and happy. I enjoyed watching her sing and Mommy is a pretty darn good singer too! Unfortunately, my singing stinks, but I can clean like nobody's business. Thanks for sharing. :)

MY FAVORITE MOVIE TOO! Could you just DIE when Captain von Trapp puts on those white gloves? I always dreamed of being Maria. Hey, you guys should join us when the traveling "Sound of Music" comes to town. It's just like Rocky Horror Picture Show (I mean, you can sing along!) Wouldn't that be a blast? Way to go LILY!

I love the video. Lily is so cute. Hannh loves to sing we have a list of songs that we sing together. You are my sunshine, I love you Hannah, Rock-a-bye baby, and Hannah's song this is one that I made up to help her learn her address. It is to the tune of Are you sleeping Father John.
