Lotsa Lil' Tidbits!

Well, it stopped snowing and/or raining long enough for us to actually get outside for a bit on Saturday afternoon. It was FAR from warm, but we bundled up and got out there for some fresh air. Lily (obviously) was in heaven...riding her bike, playing with a neighbor friend, and getting pulled along in her wagon. Spring can come any day now...we're ready.
Now, on to the recent Lil' Tidbits.
(a lot of her most memorable material comes when we're driving in the car.)
-on the way to grandma's house she starts yelling "We're coming bwamma! We'll be there soon!" So, I say "Yes, Lily, we will be there soon." To which she replies, "I'm talking to bwamma! She's not good at waiting." She has mentioned several times since then the fact that
neither myself nor my mother are good at waiting. Hmmm...where does she get her facts?
-on the way to a playdate she starts comparing the friend we were on our way to see to her "fwends fwom China"...she said "my fwends don't wive in China eddymore. They wive in Amewica just wike me...when I wived in China I was so sad. I was wooking for you eveweewhere and I couldn't find you...I'm so gwad you fwew in a pwane all the way to get me and bwing me home. I'm so happy to be a famiwee forever!"
When I was tucking her into bed one night last week she was talking about how much she missed her friend that we had spent the afternoon with. "I miss Riwee so much. I reedy wanted to bring him home, he's so good."
Getting her dressed the other morning she asks me "Did you pick out my ele-phit?" I was like, "Did I pick out your ELEPHANT!? What are you talking about, Lily?"
"My ele-phit. Did you pick out my ele-phit!? My ele-phit...my CLOTHES!"
Oh, your OUT-fit. Yes, I picked out your outfit.
She is constantly rhyming words. She'll say a word and pick a word that rhymes with it or she'll ask me to tell her a word that rhymes. When she asked me what word rhymes with grass I replied "sass"...she immediately said "Oh yes, sass whymes with gwass. I'm sassy...but I'm pwacticing NOT being sassy."
I asked her what kind of party she wants for her birthday this year. She said "A princess party...and when you see me, yell surprise. And I'll say thank you, I love surprises."
She is still very into imaginary play. She is constantly grabbing pretend things out of her pretend backpack. She even keeps rainbows in there and is always bringing them out to show people asking "do you wike wainbows??" Love it.
Two of her newest common phrases: "I'm gwumpy" and "I'm gettin' fwustwated."
We were in her playroom listening to a CD of some silly songs and she had questions about all of them. The Farmer in the Dell: "Why does the cheese stand alone when evewee one else runs away? My Bonnie lies over the ocean: "Bring back my body?" (I tell her "no, Bonnie") "But, we don't have a Bonnie. I reedy wish we had one." It's Raining, it's Pouring: "Why can't the old man get up in the morning?"
On and on (and on)...
Oh, I have so many more. But, this is gettin' way too long. Until next time!

Another first!

So, Wednesday my sister and I took the kiddos rollerskating. It was the first time for Lily and Payton, but they geared up with their helmets and tiny little skates and were ready to GO! Unfortunately, their feet weren't quite as ready to rumble.

As you can see by the picture - the rest of the skaters are a blur as they speed around the rink. We were goin' at a MUCH slower pace...pausing approximately every 20 seconds for me to pull Lily off the floor. But, she had a sweaty blast. We were out there for at least an hour, and her hair was completely matted to her head by the time the helmet came off. Honestly, I had a great time too and will definitely be taking her back.

She went to bed early and easily that night saying "I'm tired from all dat skating!" The video isn't great - but it does explain why my right arm and lower back hurt so badly!

It's official!

Lily starts preschool in the fall. She will go 4 days a week for 2 and 1/2 hours. At first, she was apprehensive, but now she claims she's ready. She just reminds me that for now, she is just THREE years old, and school won't begin until she is FOUR. So, I have my "baby" for a little while longer, then she is an official big girl. (yikes)

She had her 6 month check-up at the dentist this morning. She did really well again...said "ahhh" when she was told, and giggled a lot. Kept saying "I really like the dentist"...up until the very end. She was OVER it and said "Momma, I'm ready to go home now!" I was ready too. I DON'T like the dentist.

This is the picture she drew while waiting for me to finish my interview with her preschool. I was quite impressed. She usually won't draw anything free-hand. She is a perfectionist and will usually say that she doesn't know how to do it right....but I think she did a darn good job on her butterflies and flowers. In her words, it's a "masterpiece".
We have been keeping busy. I took Lily rollerskating for the first time this afternoon. I'll post pictures soon. Hope everyone is having a wonderful week.

Easter 2008

We had a wonderful Easter this year...Lily went on an egg hunt at church, colored eggs, got an Easter basket filled with some of her favorite goodies, we had an incredible church service, a delicious lunch with family, and best of all - we took time to remember the real reason we celebrate Easter. It's not about all of the things pictured here - although these things are certainly fun. We remember everyday (especially Easter) that Jesus lived, He died, and He rose again.

Pooped!

Our weekend with Lily's cousins went very well.
The kids had a great time together - and I got a glimpse at what it would be like to be a momma of FOUR. (I'll pass.) I'm tired. Even Lily is catching naps here and there. (today she is upstairs in her bed...this picture was taken the other day after she had fallen asleep in the car).

Some recent Lil tidbits:
Lily was playing on the computer when she yells "Mommy!!!! Heeeelp!" As I walk into the office, she lifts her arms in the air and asks "What on earf did I do!?"

At bedtime the other night Lily's prayer was simply this "God, please don't let me get carried away in a big, soapy bubble."

Yesterday I asked her if she would like some dinner...she said "I have some pretend food here in my back pack." (so she reached behind her back and grabbed some pretend food) "See, I got an apple. chomp, chomp... Mmmmm...healfy!"

This morning we went to an Easter egg hunt at church - pictures to come. Looks like we're going to have another COLD Easter...but Spring just has to come eventually, right?!?

Before I started blogging...

all that came in the mail were bills. Not so anymore! Lily got more pressies today from my "blog friend" Amy...she loves her bunny cup and Easter puzzle! But what she REALLY loved? the beautiful ribbon that was placed on her gift. That kept her busy for quite some time.

Look at those faces! Lily just remembered that she doesn't have her Spot! (major tragedy)

Don't worry, Lily...here he is!

Thanks mommy, I'm happy again. Now, let's do my new puzzle!

Thanks Amy! You are so sweet! And I also want to thank Denise for the wonderful Easter book she sent to Lily last week - she loves it and asks me to read it to her daily. You girls are so wonderful to spoil my little princess. I tell ya, my bloggy friends are some of the BEST friends a girl could ask for.

I'll be gone for a couple days...watching my sister's kids while she and her hubby are enjoying some much-deserved time away. Catch ya later.

Lil tidbits

We've had a good week here. I'm tellin' ya, I should just carry a tape recorder with me everywhere we go, cuz Lily is just a non-stop source of entertainment. I record as much as I can, but there is so much that I forget! Here are some of the tidbits from the week that I actually remember:

The other afternoon my sister and I took Lily and Payton to the play area at the mall. It is funny to watch how different the two of them are in those situations. Within minutes, Payton had joined a couple older boys in a game of tag. While Lily preferred to play by herself on the big pink hippo. She would climb up to the top, carefully and slowly stand up, raise her hands in the air and look over to me for my approval. I, of course, would clap and carry on. Beaming with pride, she would then scan the bench for any other adults who would give her praise...if they did, she would yell over to me "Dat's a nice guy/girl, momma!" Her smile would only disappear for a moment when another child DARED to come over to her spot on the hippo. What can I say? She's a good girl, but she IS a princess. (and she needs a sibling!)

Wednesday night we went to dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant with my parents. Lily was dressed for the occasion (meaning: she wore her tutu). I had no idea she would actually be putting it to good use, but to my surprise, there was a Mariachi Band playing and Lily decided they needed a dancer. So, she was out on the floor shaking her tutu while they played "La Cukaracha" and "La Bamba". They didn't take Lily's request of "Old MacDonald"...on the way home she could not stop talking about it. "Momma, those Amigos played good Spanish music!"

Then today, while Lily was playing on the computer, I got to work on cleaning my house. After awhile, she came running into the bathroom for a potty break and said "Good job cleaning the house, mommy!" I was so touched and was about to thank her for the compliment, when she continued by saying "but you got more work to do. The office floor is still dirty."

That's it for now. Hope everyone is doing well...you may have noticed that I haven't been around as much lately. I have shifted my priorities and the computer has moved down on the list a bit. A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!

Take care and have a wonderful weekend!

Outside-In

Us Michiganders are all about OVER this winter weather. We're ready for Spring! But, Spring ain't here! So sometimes ya just have to take matters into your own hands. The restaurant where I work threw a "Beach Bash" this past weekend to take everyone's mind off the snow outside...Lily was SO excited to wear a grass skirt and fish necklace, throw beach balls around and lift some weights. ("Wook how spwong I am, everyone!") My inlaws were in town for the day, so the whole family met up there to enjoy the festivities.

The outside-in fun doesn't stop there! Lily has also been back to her old self again (Lil Bubble Queen)...thanks to Steffie sending some bathtime bubbles our way. She is in heaven! She wants to take a bath constantly now, claiming to be "reawwee dirty"...thanks Stef! We'll be enjoying bubbles indoors for now - and looking forward to when we can get back outside where we belong.

Tale of a princess

Monday morning the princess awoke very distraught. Oh mother dear, I have all of these pretend friends to play with, but I long to share the company of some living, breathing human beings. What ever shall we do?? I mean, isn't their ANYONE who would like to play with me?

Look at me, momma, I'm cute! I'm sweet and friendly too!

And I have the best puppy in the whole world that I will bring along to play. Can you please find me some real friends to play with today???

Well, I thought and I thought. I really wanted to please my princess. There just had to be something I could do. And then I remembered some friends in a neighboring kingdom. We hadn't been to their castle in over a year! I called the Queen of their residence and asked if we could come over and play. To my great delight she said yes, and off we went!

Lily was so happy to spend some time with other princesses (and one prince)...unfortunately there were no dress up clothes for Prince Payton, but he was able to join the girls for a nice tea party.

And they all lived happily ever after.

More "Dance Pwass" pics

Lily is still lovin' her dance class...and she is doing SO well in it, too. On the way to class she will tell me how she is going to be a "good wistener" for Miss Amanda. (and she will also tattle on her friends for NOT being good wisteners). But, her favorite friend in class is Wexi, I mean Lexi. They are both super cute, and super sassy. (and super flexible. Can you say OUCH!?)

Hey mom! Miss Amanda let you come in and watch us!? Cool. Look what I can do!

Lily and Lexi (oh, and Spot too)

Lily always brings Spot to class. But, last week she also brought all of her other "pretend fwiends". They are going everywhere with us these days. There is Nice Fairy, Wiggles, Yo Gabba Gabba, and Tigger and Pooh. On the way to my mom's house the other day Lily insisted I put the seat belt on Tigger and Pooh so they wouldn't "fall out"...then I turned around to see her with her arm outstretched and her hand in a fist. I asked her what she was doing and she told me "I'm holding my fwiend's hand". In the morning she will yell "Wake up fwiends!" And she'll often tell me that they had a great sleepover. Monday we had a playdate with REAL friends! We had a great time - those pictures are to come.

Dance Party!

Well, I'm a day late for "Movie Monday", but these videos were taken yesterday after dinner, so that counts, right? Lily and I were having a "dance party", but I had to take a break to catch my breath, um, I mean, to get her on tape! She was telling us that the music notes were flying out of the TV and she was dancing around trying to catch them and put them back in. Her imagination is going over-time these days, and we are finding it very amusing. The last video is the most amusing (in my opinion) for those of you who don't feel like watching them all.

Yes, she had to stop cuz she was "sweating her butt"!

Our Saturday...

Went to Home Depot for this month's project. Lily and her cousins built race cars this time. This is usually Jay's special time with Lily, but she wanted us to go as a "famiwee", so I tagged along. (That is why we actually have pictures this time.)

When we got home they built a snowman. (Well, Jay did most of the work) But, Lily did her part. She named him "Snowy"...then she gave him a big hug. When I asked her if I could get my picture taken with them she said "Yeah, but I'm gonna hode Snowy's hand."
I'm just not sure she could get any sweeter.

It's weird, we had a really nice day as a family. But, there is still a part of me that never feels like it's enough. Lily still managed to watch too much TV, and spend too much time on the computer (while Jay and I watched a movie in the other room). That's my problem. I clean, but the house is never clean enough. I do, but there is always more to be done. I love my kiddo, but I too often think about the veggies that she is not eating instead of the fruit that she actually is. Does that make sense? Anyway, God has been working on my heart in this area. I'm a work in progress.
