Our family of four

Our journey to Devin was a crazy, whirlwind of a ride. We were still grieving the loss of baby #1 when my social worker told me to get some pictures together for her. The very next week we received a phone call saying that we had been chosen! (this happened ONE DAY before I got the call saying that baby #1 had been born.) SO, Jay and I decided to go forward with this adoption. We knew it was a boy, and we both felt in our hearts that our next child was indeed a boy. (Baby #1 was a girl, by the way). The following week we met the birthparents. To say the meeting was awkward would be such a ridiculous understatement. But, we survived, and it was just the beginning of weeks filled with awkward encounters. I learned to wake up every morning saying "I cannot do this alone, God. You gotta help me big-time"...and He did. This experience stretched Jay and I in ways we never dreamed possible. But, because of it, I got to hear Devin's heartbeat while he was still in the womb. I got to see him just one hour after he was born, and we got to leave the hospital with our son. Having a newborn is challenging, to say the least. Daily showers are no longer a given for this momma. Heck, getting out of my pj's doesn't happen everyday. I sleep in 2 1/2 hour intervals at night (on the good nights, that is). Dev has struggled with gas, or colic, or SOMETHING that has caused him to spend hours wailing at the top of his little lungs. We are on our third formula with him, and we think the third time is the charm cuz things are improving greatly. Hallelujah! All this to say, I feel overwhelmingly blessed to have two beautiful, healthy, perfect little kidlets. God is good!
Dev and his gramma. I LOOOOVE this picture.

Lily's sassy new "do"...she couldn't be any cuter.

Lil entertaining all of us. (Devin looks like he's trying to figure her out, doesn't he!?)

Look at that face!!!!

So cute!

I had to go out and get myself a sassy "do" too. Now Lily says we match...yep, practically twins, the two of us!

So very happy for the four of you! He is so cute! We lost a baby girl the day after she was born last May, after the BM changed her mind. I have grieved for her, but remind myself daily that God's plan is always perfect and keeping that baby girl has changed that young ladys life for the better! She is clean now and in college and taking great care of an angel! Thanks for updating us...you all make me smile!

Congratulations on your little bundle of joy! He is just adorable. I know how overwhelmed you must feel having a newborn around. They're so little and sweet, but it can be so hard to know what they want/need.

I know we haven't met as your life has been so chaotic since we moved to Michigan, but Lily and I would love to bring over lunch one day for you and your Lily. Please email me if you're interested - rstafeil@mac.com. I know when I had my second, everything was so much easier if I had someone else around!

You all looks so happy! Love the new do's. You girls look sassy and fabulous!
As to his tummy problems. Amanda from the Starfish foster home in China gives her babies something called Gripe Water (it is some tonic water from England and it is supposed to really help!) They sell it in the U.S. too. I would try it and see if it helps your little guy.
Love you and yes, GOD IS GOOD!
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmwa!

I love both of your new hairstyles....darling! Both of you!

I am so sorry about the sleep...I am praying the new formula works...I can't remember what formula it is that is supposedly easy on their tummies but I do remember it was expensive. I'll try to give some thought to it later.

Love you and big hugs!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this post...I love how you leaned on God and He held you up! I LOVE your new haircuts...so cute! I think little mR D looks like his momma! ANd don't worry...both my boys had severe colic. Will cried everyday for 5-7 hours non-stop!!!!!! it was horrible, i wanted to throw him out the window (kind of). But it only lasts a little while and it gets so much better. Wish i could come hold him so that you could sleep and shower:) Hang in there...that newborn stuff is hard but it will be over before you know it and in a way...you'll even miss it! SO happy for you!!!!!
