Gone baby, gone!

When I first became a mom, one of the most frequent warnings that came my way was "Look out! Your baby will grow up SO fast!" I smiled and nodded and somehow I knew it would be true. I have always tried to savor every moment. I don't think I'm one to take any of this precious time with Lily for granted. But, that doesn't slow things down any. I am noticing a lot lately what a big girl Lily has become (in the blink of an eye). I adore the sweet, energetic, smart, silly, singin', dancin' girl she is - BUT it still catches me off guard at times. The other night I called home as I was driving home from work and Lily answered the phone.
Lily: "Hewwo?"
Me: "Hi Lily!"
Lily: "Hi momma! How ow you?"
Me: "I'm good, thanks"
Lily: "WHERE ow you?"
Me: "I'm driving home from work...I'm on the expressway"
Lily: "Ow you on I-75? Can you see Macy's Mow?"(She calls the mall Macy's Mall because she recognizes the red star)
Me: "(chuckling) Not yet...How was church tonight?"
Lily: "Good. I wike to tell you a story."
Me: "OK, go ahead."
Lily: "When we get home. See you soon!"
I'm not gonna lie. I hung up and got a bit weepy. When did this happen? When did she get so big?

*The picture is from Christmas. My MIL wanted a stepping stone kit with Lily's handprints in it. I thought it was a wonderful idea and really want to make another one for myself. So, at least her hands will stay little in that stone and we can look back years from now and say "Remember when?"*

She is precious. I hear ya on the fast thing - I look at my son now and see him changing so much and so quickly. it does seem like yesterday he was a baby. It doesn't help that I've been putting all of our old movies on dvd and I sit and watch and cry.

I was just telling my husband the same thing this week. I told him I want to freeze them right here. Where has the time gone! What a sweet idea to do the handprint stone! Love the phone conversation!

Oh, they do grow up fast. D.S. and I are trying to grasp the fact that S.G. is 5 now. How has the time gone so quickly? I'm really struggling with her starting Kindergarten next year. I don't take a moment for granted. I'm going to enjoy the rest of the "home" time we have together before the many years of school begin. Sigh.....

Yes, its true. I know because it happened with my older daughter. One day you wake up and they want to be with their friends more than with us moms. She is adorable and it looks like you have a lot more fun years before that happens.

Awww, Glenys is defying me in this request not to grow up too soon too.

Sucks doesn't it.

Sweet girl , gave me a smile. ;)
Time really just flies too fast, Jen constantly asks me "Mom, when am I going to be older?"
I would love to keep the monkeys little forever, but I am looking forward to them becoming the wonderful, sweet, accomplished women I just know they will be.
I just wish they could slow down just a little bit, LOL.

They do grow up way to fast. Sometimes I get sad when I am packing away the clothes the kids have out grown or when I look at pictures from just a couple of months ago. I want to remember every moment and cherish all those sweet moments. Don't you just wish you could keep them little forever?

Oh, Nikki, how you and your precious baby touch my heart. This post hits so close to home.... With each new stage of their life it is so exciting, and you fall in love with them even more... but it is so hard to let go of yesterday.... I guess that is why we say they will always be our babies..... always....

Our Katie just turned two last month. Today, she was sitting on the counter (Daddy put her there) when her biggest brother took a knife out of the block to cut a bagel. All of a sudden, Katie said quite clearly (and quite loudly!), "Dangerous!"

At two years, 28 days! Talk about growing up fast!

Lily is such a beauty. What a little sweetheart.

PS, did you get my email about the CAWM CNY festivities? I'd love to meet you there!

I too would love to slow time.. I love to talk with Caitlyn and enjoy seeing her grow, but sometimes I would just like to have a few moments where I could go back and hold her when she was tiny just for a few moments now and then...I love how Lily could visualize where you were, that is pretty big for a 3 yr old!

Awwww....the babies, they grow far too fast.

she is wise beyond her years....growing up way too fast...

love the stepping stone idea...get her footprints too!!!

Wait until they are 15. They need you less, but you still need them the same. Motherhood is the greatest gift. I miss who they were at each step along the way...but I love the children they are today. I look back on pictures of Zach in my arms. He was the sweetest baby and I miss that baby boy, but I sure love the young man.
